Recording of Webinar: How to adjust teacher appraisals for COVID-19

  Thursday 9th September 2021 | 10:00 - 10:40

Many schools are approaching the end of a second appraisal year disrupted by COVID-19. At the time of 2020-21 appraisal planning, schools were fully reopening and it seemed as if the country might be emerging from lockdown for good. Even where objectives and evidence-gathering arrangements were put together flexibly with further disruption to education in mind, it’s likely that the reality of the situation in schools over the last few months may have overtaken even the best of plans.

The webinar will focus on:

  • How to ensure compliance with your appraisal policy and statutory requirements
  • What adjustments might be needed when reviewing the past year
  • Tips for planning the 2021/22 appraisal year
  • The link with pay reviews and how to manage this

This event has already taken place. You can, however, still register to view the recording of the session here.

Recording of Webinar: How to plan ahead for changing staffing needs

  Tuesday 30th November 2021 | 10:00 - 10:40

The autumn term is typically the point in the year when schools and colleges start to review their staffing complement for the academic year ahead and beyond, considering changes to structures and responsibilities or, in some cases, an overall staffing reduction, to reflect evolving needs and ever-increasing demands on the budget.

Managing such a process can sometimes be difficult and demanding, both professionally and personally. There is a complex legal framework surrounding restructuring and redundancy scenarios and numerous pitfalls to be aware of.

The webinar will focus on:

  • The minimum legal requirements and the employee relations context
  • What the process looks like and how to plan for it
  • Best practice around consultation and communication
  • Practical ideas to reduce any negative impact on staff

This event has already taken place. You can, however, still register to view the recording of the session here.
