Guidance for schools wishing to hire teachers who are not UK or Irish nationals was updated on 10th December 2021. The guidance includes:
- Updated information on the EU Settlement Scheme confirming that individuals with pre-settled status must reapply to the settlement scheme before their pre-settled status expires in order to remain in the UK
- Additional advice has been provided regarding helping overseas teachers settle into school in the UK
- Information about the fully funded acclimatisation support service, a pilot project to give international teachers the knowledge and skills they need to flourish in English classrooms. It is open to state-funded secondary schools or academies employing, or plan to employ, international teachers to begin teaching from September 2022 in a range of subjects: (mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computing, geography, design and technology & modern foreign languages (MFL)
