The 2021-22 pay claim from UNISON, GMB and Unite was lodged yesterday in respect of the NJC for Local Government Services Agreement (‘Green Book’).
The headline claim is for a minimum 10% pay award (which mirrors the 2020-21 pay claim) with a minimum hourly rate of £10.17.
Other familiar aspects being sought in this year’s claim are a reduction to the working week and an increase to annual leave entitlement.
New features to the claim include seeking the introduction of a homeworking allowance as well as a national minimum agreement on homeworking policies.
The Trade Unions' Side is also seeking joint reviews on job descriptions, career development routes and pay banding for school support staff as well as maternity, paternity, shared parental and adoption leave provisions. Agreement on a ‘best practice’ national programme on mental health support for all LAs and school staff is also being pursued.
It is unlikely that the claim will be formally responded to for some time, meaning that there will be no agreement in time for an implementation date of 1st April 2021.
