New shielding guidance from 1st April 2021

18th March 2021

Clinically extremely vulnerable (CEV) individuals are being sent new letters confirming that they are no longer being asked to shield from 1st April 2021.

People who are clinically extremely vulnerable are advised, from 1st April, to continue to keep their number of social interactions low and reduce the amount of time spent in settings where social distancing cannot be maintained. CEV staff who cannot work from home can be expected to attend their workplace from 1st April. Employers should ensure that the measures in place to minimise risk of virus transmission have been explained to anyone returning from shielding. CEV staff should, of course, also be invited to participate in the regular testing programme for staff in education settings.

A reference copy of the letter being issued is available on the Gov.uk website.
