The Chancellor has announced today in Parliament that the furlough scheme will be extended until the end of October.
Until the end of July there will be no changes to the operation of the scheme and the subsidy rate will remain at 80%. From August there will be additional flexibility introduced to support the transition back to work, with employees on furlough able to work on a part-time basis. Employers will also be expected to begin sharing the cost of paying the salaries of furloughed employees with the government.
Full details are expected to be published by the end of this month.
