Changes to the provision of Children's Barred List Checks

25th March 2021

From 1 April 2021 the provision of the Children's Barred List (CBL) service will transfer to the Department for Education (DfE).  The new DfE service will be strictly limited to employers of staff in educational settings who are responsible for checking the suitability of applicants seeking to engage in regulated activity and as part of the pre employment risk assessment pending receipt of a completed DBS Certificate.

As educational settings will now have the facility to check the barred list status, there is no requirement to involve a third party. This ultimately means that as a third parties Strictly Education & Strictly Education 4S will no longer be able to provide this service, however our Clients will continue to have access to our DBS systems to apply for Enhanced Certificates with CBL.

We have not yet received any details on how the process is going to work, we will provide a further update once we receive more information.
