Staff working in education are expected to meet high standards of personal and professional conduct to act as role models for pupils, to safeguard the welfare of children, to maintain the reputation of education establishments and to ensure - where the establishment is publicly funded - that procedures around finances and pay are consistent with the principles of public life: objectivity, openness and accountability.
