Following changes introduced in 2013, the DBS now only issues a certificate to the applicant and not the requesting organisation.
Schools and other establishments using our online system will receive email notification that a check has been completed and can log in at any time to see whether an application has moved into the 'Application Complete' folder. It is possible to see whether the result is clear or not but not to view the actual certificate.
Where the result is not clear it will be essential for the school/organisation to have sight of the certificate (by the employee presenting this for viewing) in order to discuss the content with the individual and conduct a full and fair risk assessment.
